The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has initiated Phase II of the Assistive Device Programme for Children with Disabilities in Guinea-Bissau, in partnership with local authorities.
The launch event, led by Minister H.E. Maria Inácia Có Mendes Sanhá, emphasized the importance of dignity and inclusion for children with disabilities.
Dr. Alves D’Almada, representing the ECOWAS Commission, pointed out the program’s importance in empowering families and advocating for social justice.
Mr. João Pedro Cabral, President of the National Federation for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, highlighted the necessity of incorporating disability inclusion into public policies.
This initiative aims to ensure that every child with a disability is acknowledged and supported, reinforcing ECOWAS’s commitment to fairness and social cohesion in the region.
