The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) launched its second National Alumni Chapter in The Gambia on 10 July 2025, aiming to enhance regional cooperation in peacebuilding and conflict prevention.
This follows the successful establishment of the first chapter in Sierra Leone in 2024. The launch event in Banjul brought together nearly 40 alums with expertise in various fields related to peace and security.
Air Commodore David Akrong, the acting Commandant of KAIPTC, emphasized the chapter’s significance and encouraged collaboration among members.
The Gambian chapter aims to strengthen ties within KAIPTC’s alumni network across Africa under the theme “Unity for Peace and Security.”
Elections were held for the chapter’s leadership, resulting in Marian Jabang as President, with Bubacarr Sambou, Mariama Barry, Juju Jallow, and Lamin Jallow in key roles.
Jabang pledged to maintain open communication between alums and KAIPTC, thereby reinforcing connections and promoting lifelong learning.
