TikTok-U.S.-Sale-2025

U.S. President Donald Trump has pushed back the deadline for ByteDance to sell TikTok’s U.S. operations to September 17, 2025.

This is the third time the Biden administration has extended this deadline since the divestment law was introduced.

Trump hopes that Chinese President Xi Jinping will support the sale to an American company. The White House confirmed that the extension is meant to protect user data.

TikTok, which has over 170 million users in the U.S., says it is not a national security threat and claims that U.S. user data is not stored in China. The company welcomes the extension and Trump’s support.
