Kenyan Photojournalist Wins Global Award, Outshining 133 Competitors

Kenyan photojournalist Dishon Amanya’s award-winning photograph, “Community Resilience – Water Access Solutions in Times of Drought,” taken in Kimilili, Bungoma County, won the Governance Solutions category at the UNCCD’s global photo competition, spotlighting climate and water solutions.

Kenyan photojournalist Dishon Amanya won the top award in the Governance Solutions category at the Solutions that Inspire Change global photo competition.

His photograph, titled “Community Resilience – Water Access Solutions in Times of Drought,” showcases how communities manage water resources during droughts.

The competition, organized by the UNCCD, GWP, and IDRA, received 135 entries from 59 countries, focusing on climate and water solutions. Amanya’s winning image was taken in Kimilili, Bungoma County.

His award brings attention to marginalized communities affected by environmental issues, and the photograph will be displayed at the UNCCD headquarters in Bonn, Germany.
