Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, announced that he plans to give most of his $200 billion wealth to improve health and education in Africa.

He spoke at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa, highlighting the need to strengthen these areas to boost prosperity across the continent.

Gates encouraged young innovators to use Artificial Intelligence to enhance healthcare. He aims to donate 99% of his wealth by 2045, leaving him with enough to remain a billionaire.

This announcement comes at a time when U.S. aid to Africa may be decreasing. Graça Machel, a former First Lady of Mozambique, said this announcement is timely given the ongoing challenges in the region. Since 2000, the Gates Foundation has given over $100 billion in support.
