A small group of Afrikaner South Africans has recently arrived in the U.S. They say they are facing persecution in their home country.

This group is part of about 8,000 Afrikaners who are expected to be resettled after receiving fast-tracked refugee status from President Trump. He has wrongly claimed that they are victims of genocide.

His actions, like stopping aid to South Africa, relate to a law that allows land to be taken without compensation, aimed at fixing inequalities from the apartheid era.

Despite their claims, statistics show that crime, especially against black South Africans, is much higher. The South African government has strongly denied Trump’s statements.
