Gabon plans to stop exporting raw manganese by 2029. The goal is to strengthen local industry and reduce dependence on exporting unprocessed resources. This initiative will boost domestic processing, create skilled jobs, and help the country keep more value from its resources.

The government is giving the industry three years to invest in local processing facilities and will establish a public-private investment fund to support this initiative. Additionally, Gabon will ban chicken meat imports starting in 2027 to encourage local poultry production.

These actions are part of a broader effort to reduce economic inequality and promote economic self-sufficiency.
