Ghanaian Nurse Naomi Ohene Oti Wins the 2025 Global Nursing Award for Her Work in Cancer Care

Naomi Oyoe Ohene Oti, an oncology nurse from Ghana, won the 2025 Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award for her important work in cancer care and nurse training.

The award, which comes with a $250,000 prize, was given by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan in Dubai. Ohene Oti is the head of nursing at the National Radiotherapy Oncology and Nuclear Medicine Centre in Accra. She focuses on education and changing systems to improve cancer care in Ghana and Africa.

She has helped create training programs and develop Ghana’s postgraduate oncology nursing curriculum. Ohene Oti also works with the African Organisation for Research and Training in Cancer and collaborates with international groups to ensure fair care.

The award ceremony highlighted nurses’ essential role in global healthcare and recognized nine other finalists from different countries. The Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award aims to showcase nurses’ impact on leadership, research, and community service.
