CDS Mamat Cham Assures Improvements To Troops’ Housing And Facilities

Chief of Defence Staff Lt. Gen. Cham vows swift action to improve conditions in Gambian military camps, focusing on infrastructure, equipment shortages, and troop welfare to strengthen national defense.

Lieutenant General Mamat O.A. Cham, The Gambia’s Chief of Defence Staff, visited military camps in Njogon, Kerr Pateh, Farafenni, and Lamin Koto, identifying critical issues such as overcrowded barracks, shortages of uniforms, old infrastructure, and insufficient patrol vehicles.

Soldiers urgently needed secure perimeters, updated facilities, and reliable transport. CDS Cham pledged immediate action, including sending patrol vehicles and upgrading infrastructure, to enhance military welfare and operational readiness in response to The Gambia’s security challenges.
