The Government Announces a Major Reshuffle of Top Civil Service Positions

The Gambian government announces a significant reshuffle of senior civil servants, appointing and transferring key personnel to improve governance and public service delivery.

The Gambian government has announced a significant reshuffle of senior civil servants, a move aimed at enhancing institutional performance and improving public service delivery.

A statement from Ebrima G. Sankareh, Government Spokesperson and Presidential Adviser on Diaspora Affairs, confirmed that these changes were made in consultation with the Public Service Commission and will take immediate effect.

Mr. Samba Camara Mballow, who previously served as Permanent Secretary at the Office of the Vice President, has been appointed the new Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Interior.

Mr. Demba S. Bah will remain as Permanent Secretary at the Office of the President, following a decision to reverse his earlier deployment to the Ministry of Interior.

Mr. Abdoulie T.B. Jarra, formerly with the Office of the President, has been elevated to Permanent Secretary at the Office of the Vice President.

Mrs. Cordu L. Jabang, the former Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, will now serve at the Ministry of Information, Media, and Broadcasting Services.

Mrs. Amie Njie-Joof, who previously headed the Information Ministry, has been transferred to the Ministry of Tourism and Culture.

Changes were also made to the Deputy Permanent Secretary positions:

Mr. Saikou Trawally, formerly at the Office of the Vice President, has been appointed Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Welfare.

Mr. Kajally Sonko has transitioned from the Ministry of Gender to the Ministry of Information.

Mr. Fanding Kinteh has moved from the Ministry of Information to the Office of the Vice President.

The government stated that this reshuffle underscores its commitment to “fostering growth and promoting efficient resource delivery” across all governance sectors.
