An 18-year-old man named Sheikh Njie was arrested on November 25, 2024, for stealing 16 air conditioner compressors valued at D90,000 in the Latrikunda German area.
Njie was apprehended following a police investigation that reviewed CCTV footage, which captured him and two accomplices during the commission of the crime. He is currently in police custody while authorities search for the remaining suspects.
The incident has raised concerns among local businesses, prompting police to recommend enhanced security measures, including installing surveillance systems, to help prevent further thefts. Residents hope that improved security will decrease the number of break-ins in the area.
