Momodou Sabally, a presidential adviser, has commended the remarkable economic growth achieved under President Adama Barrow’s leadership. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has recognized the country as one of the top 20 fastest-growing economies in the world. Sabally, previously a vocal critic of the Barrow administration during his time in opposition, now acknowledges the government’s efforts in steering the country towards sustained economic advancement.

During his appearance on the Coffee Time show, he expressed optimism regarding Gambia’s economic prospects, emphasizing a projected growth rate of 5.8% for the current year. “This year, Gambia is on track for an impressive growth rate of 5.8%, and we are proud to be ranked among the world’s top 20 fastest-growing economies by the IMF,” Sabally stated. “Furthermore, inflation has seen a significant decline, dropping from 18.5% a year ago to 10% today, which indicates clear progress toward economic stability,” he added.

Sabally’s comments indicate a notable shift in his perspective towards the Barrow administration, which he now credits with successfully transforming the country’s development trajectory and facilitating positive changes in the national economy.
