This joint effort is aimed at enhancing energy access and supporting local development and sustainability. The community’s announcement of the project on Saturday was a testament to their active role in this initiative. They highlighted the project’s importance in improving living conditions and expressed gratitude for the foundation’s commitment to social responsibility. The community leaders also emphasized the project’s potential to transform Gambisara’s energy landscape and drive economic growth.

The community, in their announcement, stressed the significant benefits of electrification in rural areas. They stated that it plays a crucial role in fostering economic activities, supporting education, improving healthcare access, promoting women’s participation in the workforce, and reducing reliance on traditional energy sources. They believe that reliable electricity can substantially increase household income and stimulate local businesses, thereby contributing to broader social development. The D10 M solar project is not just about energy, it’s about transforming lives.

Abubakary Jawara, the foundation’s CEO, mentioned that the project aims to enhance the power generation capacity and efficiency of Nawec’s transmission network to expand electricity access for the beneficiary community. He emphasized that the project aligns with the foundation’s policy to complement government efforts. The initiative is set to install 600 solar streetlights and significantly improve the electricity supply in Gambisara, the birthplace of CEO Abubakary Jawara.
