The Gambia Police Force (GPF) recently completed intensive training on self-defense techniques led by a team of trainers from the German Police Support Team. Held at the Police Intervention Unit (PIU), the training covered crucial areas such as arresting methods and retrieving suspects from a vehicle. The training is part of ongoing efforts to improve the operational efficiency of GPF personnel.

At the end of the training, the lead trainer (Chris) expressed his satisfaction with the trainees’ performances and noted that the knowledge gained could be used for future training programs. The trainees were urged to share their newly acquired skills with their colleagues. A spokesperson for the trainees – Cadet ASP Bojang, thanked the trainers for the quality training and expressed their readiness to deliver as expected.

The Commissioner of the Police Intervention Unit expressed gratitude to the German Police Support Team for their continuous support and emphasized the importance of the police’s relationship with the German government. In concluding remarks, the trainees were tasked to use their newly acquired skills best.
