Gambian migrant allegedly killed by Tunisian Police; four others taken away

By Adama Makasuba

Tunisian Police have allegedly killed a Gambian migrant while the officers reportedly take away four others. Ebrima Drammeh, Italy-based Gambian migrant rights defender, said: “Muhammad Ceesay was killed by Blows and Tear Gases by Tunisian police officers. They took the coffin away last night and were accompanied by four Gambian migrants. But from yesterday until now, they have not returned to KM 34, and nobody has heard from them. We are asking the Tunisian Police about the whereabouts of our brothers.

According to him, a Tunisian hospital refused to receive the wounded Gambian migrants. Meanwhile, he said, hundreds of sub-Saharan migrants in the Al-Hamaiza region (SFAX) ambushed a National Guard car with three agents on board. The vehicle overturned, injuring the officers on board seriously. The migrants then set the National Guard car on fire.

In response to this deplorable attack by the migrants on the Tunisian National Guard, a video was posted on Drammeh’s Facebook showing two migrants lying on the ground surrounded by other hopeless migrants.

“At kilometer 34, the Tunisian Police killed two sub-Saharan African migrants. One of them is a Gambian from Brikama, Mohammed Ceesay, and the other one who also died is not yet known to us, but we will keep you posted.”

He further wrote that the Tunisian Police attacked and killed three sub-Saharan African migrants, including a one-month-old baby from Sierra Leone, and went on to say that the Police burnt down their camps (ghettos). They are all currently homeless in this crazy weather and saw live pictures of tents on fire in the bush, which was allegedly done by the Tunisian Police in response to what I called an unfortunate attack by the migrants.
