Madi Jobarteh was charged with sedition and false information

Activist Madi Jobarteh, who was arrested and released last month was yesterday, charged with seditious intention, incitement to violence, false broadcasting, and information.

The Westminster Foundation country representative was initially released on a bail bond of D100,000 secured by one Gambian surety. He has been reporting to the Police Headquarters weekly. His mobile phone and that of his daughter are still with the police. He says his bail has been extended to 23 November, a day he is expected to appear in court. 

 “They have refused to hand over my phone. Unbowed,” Madi said shortly after leaving the police headquarters.
