Kanifing General Hospital Launches its First Surgical Smart Pod

Kanifing General Hospital has reached a significant milestone in healthcare innovation by unveiling its first surgical Smart Pod, marking a transformative advancement in medical services in The Gambia. This landmark initiative was made possible through the collaborative efforts of Baylor College of Medicine in Texas, Horizon Trust Gambia Ltd, and various other partners.

At the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Amadou Samateh, the Health Minister, underscored the initiative’s potential to revolutionize surgical care in the country. “This innovative project aims to integrate cutting-edge technology with high-quality healthcare services,” he stated.

Dr. Samateh highlighted the Smart Pod’s primary objective to reduce maternal and child morbidity and mortality while improving access to essential life-saving procedures during childbirth. He thanked all partners and stakeholders, affirming, “Together with our dedicated healthcare providers, we are establishing a new standard for surgical excellence and paving the way for a healthier future.”
