Adama Barrow, the President of The Gambia, has been urged to take action to enforce the law against corruption in the country. Raffe Diab, a member of the Citizens Alliance, made this call during a national dialogue at the State House. In December 2023, the National Assembly of The Gambia passed the Anti-Corruption Bill, which was delayed for years despite public pressure.

During the dialogue, Raffe Diab emphasized the importance of fighting corruption, stating that it hinders the country’s development. He called on Barrow and opposition leaders to work together to enforce the law against those found guilty of corruption. Raffe also urged political leaders to discourage their followers from spreading hatred on social media. He emphasized that politicians and their followers should not view each other as enemies but as individuals with different political views that aim to benefit the country.

Finally, he advised the Barrow government to focus on implementing policies and plans, including enforcing laws in the country. He cited implementation as one of the main problems that The Gambia has faced since independence. Raffe also highlighted the negative impact of social media on political discourse and urged political leaders to encourage their members to express their opinions respectfully.
