Angelic Anchu Prom, originally from Gambia but raised in Chicago, Illinois, has devoted her career to the performing arts as a dancer, model, and actress.
Focused on empowering women and youth, Prom is collaborating with her family’s Eliza Senghore Emil Prom Foundation (ESEP) to bridge cultural divides and support educational initiatives in the Gambia.
Angelic shared that her journey in the performing arts began at an early age, inspired by her mother’s teachings in African dance. She later attended a performing arts high school in Chicago, where she trained in various dance styles and gained valuable exposure to prestigious dance companies. Her modeling career also took off through beauty pageants, leading to print and runway modeling opportunities, including appearances in “The Coleman Show” on Amazon Prime and the reality TV series “Top Babes of Chicago.”
In addition to her on-screen talents, Prom has taken on the role of executive producer, demonstrating her versatility in the industry. She recently completed filming a new project, Angels on the Ride, which is awaiting release.
During her recent visit to St. Joseph’s School in Gambia, she addressed the challenges young women face in pursuing careers in the arts. “I know that here in the Gambia, it’s a different mindset because many parents believe that focusing on the arts wastes time. However, if you have a passion for something, you should pursue it, regardless of what others believe,” she explained.
She emphasized the importance of balancing artistic ambitions with academic responsibilities.
Through her artistic endeavors and philanthropic initiatives, Angelic Anchu Prom is dedicated to fostering a cultural bridge between the arts and education, inspiring the next generation of women in Gambia to pursue their passions with confidence and resilience.
