A security guard, Mbackey Sowe, is in critical condition at the hospital after being brutally stabbed during a conflict with a gang of six at Brufut Heights on Wednesday, August 7. The six individuals, known for their criminal activities, have been captured and are currently in police custody. They are facing numerous charges, including attempted murder. During a search of the suspects’ hideouts, the police found three daggers and other weapons.
Police commissioner Momodou Sowe reported that three brand new daggers used by the perpetrators in their attacks have been recovered. In the recent incident at Brufut Heights, a security guard was critically injured and is still hospitalized. Additionally, in July, four
residential compounds in Sanchaba were targeted. Sowe emphasized that the gang has been spreading terror throughout the entire Greater Banjul Area and causing widespread destruction.
They have been charged with five counts, including attempted murder, two cases of robbery with violence, burglary and theft, intentional property damage, attempted commission of a felony, and conspiracy to commit a felony. Once the investigation is concluded, they will be brought to court, he added.
The police chief urged the public to report criminal activities to help curb crime in the country.
