Man, allegedly kills Western Union worker at Westfield

In Westfield on January 19th, 2023, a suspected armed robber killed a Western Union worker, Fatoumatta Kargbo, during a staged money exchange. The assailant, arrested after a suicide attempt, is under police investigation.

Man, allegedly kills Western Union worker at Westfield

On Friday, January 19th, 2023, a suspected armed robber stabbed a Western Union worker in Westfield to death and attempted to commit suicide. The victim was named Fatoumatta Kargbo.

According to eyewitnesses, the alleged attacker stabbed the victim multiple times after pretending to change some money during Friday prayer when her colleague worker went for prayer at the Mosque. The victim died after he arrived at Kanifing General Hospital following sustaining knife stabs multiple times.

The attacker, according to Ramatoulie Jammeh, entered the bureau and killed the insisted lady (customer representative) to rob the business, and was heard screaming, “he is killing me.” The eyewitness, Ramatoulie, described the victim as “a good neighbor, a disciplined and a respectful woman.”

The Gambia Police launched an investigation upon successful arrest and took the alleged killer to the hospital for attempted suicide by stabbing himself multiple times.
